Mayor, council respond to citizen questions — Answers to questions raised during a recent Mayor and Council Breakfast session at The Mac have been posted on the city website. Mayor Nancy McNally and members of Westminster City Council on February 11 fielded a variety of questions, ranging from developments at the Westminster Mall site to the city’s recent installation of solar panels on several city facilities. The mayor and council members will host a community dessert on Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at REI, 14696 Delaware St., in The Orchard Town Center (144th Avenue and I-25). Children are welcome and please bring a friend. For further information, contact James Mabry, Neighborhood Outreach coordinator, at 303-658-2011 or e-mail jmabry@cityofwestminster.us. Fire Chief Ale tapping set for March 11 — Join Westminster firefighters at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, to celebrate the tapping of the first kegs of 2010 Fire Chief Ale at both Westminster Rock Bottom Breweries. All are welcome! Sample the beer, check out the silent auction, enter the drawing for a fire truck, get Fire Chief Ale merchandise and enjoy the party at both the Promenade Rock Bottom (U.S. 36 and 104th Avenue) and The Orchard Town Center Rock Bottom (I-25 and 144th Avenue). All proceeds from the Fire Chief Ale sales and related events March 11 to April 4 support the Westminster Firefighters Fire Victims Benefit Fund and the Westminster Public Safety Recognition Foundation. For more details see the city website or call 303-658-4518. Volunteers sought for softball program — Like softball? Looking to help your community? Volunteers are needed now for a new program at the Christopher Field Softball Complex. Volunteers will assist teams, visitors and staff with field assignments, complex policies and information, updating rosters, approved equipment lists, game start-up tasks, complex safety and first aid. If you would like more information on this new program, contact Pam Mayhew, volunteer coordinator, at 303-658-2159 or pmayhew@cityofwestminster.us. Garden in a Box offers deal on low-water plants — The City of Westminster is partnering with the Center for Resource Conservation to offer the Garden in a Box program to Westminster water customers. Three pre-planned, water-conserving gardens containing 30-40 plants each are available at much-reduced rates, $65 to $110. Each garden is professionally designed and comes with a “plant by numbers” planting diagram. What could be simpler? Each Garden in a Box is available for pickup on Saturday, May 22. For information on the gardens, or to place an order, visit the Center for Resource Conservation website.

If elected, how will you adjust your life to allow adequate time to your new position?

If elected, how will you address improving and addressing code enforcement issues?
If elected, how will you help with improved maintenance of City-owned common areas in Countryside?
Also, Mayor Nancy McNally spoke about the proposed improvements of US36 at the Federal level - she encouraged us all to contact our representatives (Mark Udall, Michael Bennett, Jaris Polis, and Ed Perlmutter) and tell them of our support for the TIGER Grant which will help pay for HOV lanes on both sides of US36.
UPDATE ON LANDSCAPE PROJECT
Phase One of the landscaping project on Oak Street between 107th and 108th is just about completed . We would like to start Phase two which is to lay more rock up to 107th Avenue. We have spent about $3,500 on the project and we have about $500 left in the budget. So far we have moved about 30 tons of rock and we are eager to complete the project before the snow flies.
However $500 is not enough to complete the project. If you like what you see and have not contributed to the annual Neighbors for Countryside fund drive, you can still contribute. Our mailing address is: Neighbors for Countryside, P.O. Box 6004, Broomfield, CO 80021. If you have any questions please contact me.
Thank you,
